SLWA is a nonprofit 501c 3 organization which was formed in 1993. Our mission is protecting the water quality of Swartswood and Little Swartswood Lakes, and preserving the lakes for recreational use. Swartswood (520 acres) and Little Swartswood Lakes (84 acres) are glacier formed lakes located in Stillwater and Hampton Townships, Sussex County, New Jersey. Like many lakes in North America, Swartswood and Little Swartswood Lakes have experienced accelerated eutrification and aggressive weed growth. Swartswood Lakes are primarily public lands with over 2000 acres of State Park, including swimming and picnic facilities, campgrounds, public boat launching, boat rentals and hunting and fishing. Enjoy the tranquil lakes where bald eagles are found and boats with gas engines are not (electric motors only).
